Dover Park Hospices Sunflower Gala Ball

Dover Park Hospice’s (DPH) Sunflower Gala Ball lived up to its Jam, Jive and Jazz theme, giving guests a swinging good time. Local songstress Jacintha Abisheganaden and Eu Yan Sang chairman Richard Eu crooned bluesy favourites, and the hospice’s volunteer show choir GEM performed up-tempo songs and dances. With Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong as guest-of-honour, the dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore and its silent auction raised some $1,065,000 for patients of the Inpatient, Home Care and new Day Care programme. DPH needs about $3.6 million each year to subsidise patient palliative care programmes and services. Its Chairman Robert Chew shared that DPH aims to double its in-patient capacity to 100 beds when it moves to the Integrated Care Hub at HealthCity Novena in 2021, as well as expand home and day care for patients.
