For Rachel Lau, Southeast Asia isn’t just a place she calls home but it’s also the pinnacle of where she wants to carve her own legacy. Drawing upon her vast experience in the investment industry, Rachel founded RHL Ventures in 2015 with two partners. The private investment firm aims to redefine traditional investing and champion small and medium-sized global businesses with links to Asean economies by equipping them with essential expert knowledge and tools. “I want to build a premier investment house that is truly Southeast Asian in heritage, essentially, leveraging our global know-how and backgrounds to a differentiated investment philosophy that is best suited for the region,” she says.

Prior to investing, she strongly believes in conducting detailed due diligence on a company, identifying businesses with strong growth opportunities. When it comes to her work philosophy, she stresses that it’s important to be true to oneself and authentic towards the people around her. Rachel currently serves on the Leadership Team of the Hong Kong chapter of Ellevate (formerly 85 Broads), a 34,000-member global network of professional women and sits on the Program Committee of Empower, a not-for profit organisation that supports at risks youths in developing countries.
