The ATP Masters 1000 tournament returns to China for the first time since 2019.

Now expanded to 12 days, the iconic Rolex Shanghai Masters will run from October 4 to 15, gathering some of the tennis world’s top players including Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune in a contest worth 1000 points in the ATP rankings for the champion. It’s held at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena and is the only ATP Masters 1000 event outside of Europe and North America, making it a spectacle for all tennis fans in the region. In tune with its longstanding relationship with sporting excellence and tennis, Rolex has been a sponsor of this prestigious event as early as 2009, and subsequently becoming a title sponsor just a year later.

To mark the ATP’s return to China and make it even more special, Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer will also be returning to Shanghai as the Icon Athlete of the Shanghai Masters in recognition of his contributions to the sport and triumphs at the event in 2014 and 2017. “I’m very excited to be named Rolex Shanghai Masters Icon Athlete for 2023,” he said ahead of the event. “I remember coming to Shanghai for the first time for the opening of the stadium and I have been close friends with the tournament organisers ever since. I am happy to keep the story going and I look forward to seeing everyone in October.”
